I got 9 correct out of 10 :) I didn’t know the difference about illness(sickness) and disease. Helpful! Thank you, Adam :) BTW I’ve had a chronic disease since I was an infant.
I’m sorry to hear that Happy. But I’m glad of your name ;)
disease is very serious, dangerous…a illness is not too important, can be a cold, a flu, etc.
I’ve got 3 out of 10 but actually i think this lesson was so easy for me , isnt it !!?
why in question no 9 used cure you told we must using remedy
Hi Lina,
A remedy would be for one instance, while a cure would be for the disease in general.
(plus, remedy wasn’t a choice) ;)
thanks :)
I got 6 correct out of 10
Thank you
I got 9

Cool! Great lesson, but I’m not agree with the third question of the test: if you broke a leg, you have to go to see the doctor. In the test the Only correct answer is when you get a disease Cheers from México, Adam
i have the same opinion as you
Hi Mario,
The key is the verb “catch”. You can only catch a disease. The other choices are their own verbs.
What about catch a cold or catch a flu? You said cold and flu are illness.
thank you teacher i got 80 %
Hello Adam ,
What about GP ( general pratictioner ) . Is this word commonly used in every English speaking countries ?
The worse bug you may catch in winter and spring gives you gastroenteritis .
Take care of you , it is right now .
Thank you Adam .
Hi Tsamp,
In some countries GP is common. In Canada, not so much.
i watch your video 3 time and i have got 6 out of 10 :D but thank you.
Well, I’m a student of HUI and I love to have friends from others university….So why don’t we be friend?? I study languge…may be we can help each other….
Thank you very much! it so helpful!
I’ve seven out of ten . Thanks for sharing your lesson .
Dear Adam,
Thank you this topic. i have a question: Is this only a medical treatment or something else too: “lobotomize”
Thank you your lecture. I wish there would be more lessons with new vocabularies.
Hi Vidamzenesz,
lobotomize is an outdated treatment for certain mental disorders. They would “cut” a piece of the brain off, thinking that this was the aggressive area.
Now this word is used as an insult ;)
Thanks for the lesson
I also got 10 out of 10!
you rock Adan!
Thank you so much!
Thank you ;D
Thanks a lot for all your support you’ve been giving to us.

:) I’ll say hi to Eve for you
Doctor Adam :) (Sounds good) ;)
BTW, from what I know a pediatrician is children’s doctor.
Hi Antonella,
You are correct. I guess when I said family doctor, I was thinking about people with kids :)
I’ll have to clarify that next time.
I accept your excuses only if you’ll mention my name in the next video :-D
Thanks, it was very good but still I could not understand the deference of cold, flu, and fever, the deference of cure, treat, remedy because it was not clear a little bit.thanks
As I know from my parental experience a cold is similar to the flu, but it is not so severe. Fever is just a symptom of both of them. Usually it’s higher if you have the flu. Some people don’t have a fever when they have a cold. And if you have a fever, it doesn’t mean that you have a cold or the flue. It might be a symptom of other illnesses.
Hi Bakhtyari,
Haliota gave some good answers.
Cure means to get rid of a disease, while treat means to try to ease the symptoms. Remedy is similar to treat, though it can also be a noun, meaning the thing you use to treat something.
Does this help?
Yes, of course it helped me to understand.
Thanks a lot for your time and effort for replying.
I’ve got 2 out of 10
Thank You
Thank you Adam
I’ve got 9 out of 10 thanks Adam

Hi Adam
i don’t really know how to thank you, you were the key to my improving in English.
This is my first comment here, but i’ve been listening to your lessons from very long time ago.
actually i have problem that always worries me, Adam. When i listen to u talking, i almost understand everything and that really satisfies me but when i watch hollywood movies i almost miss everything. why do you think it is so? Is there something wrong with me?
And one last thing, Adam. May i ask u to do us a lesson about the uses of would , would have pp ,could , could have pp , might and may?
i don’t know when to use them.
thanks a lot
Hi E,
Thank you very much.
Firstly, keep in mind that I am aware of my audience, who are non-native speakers. Therefore, I speak a little slower than normal and make sure to be clear. Hollywood movies are made for native speakers. So the problem is certainly not with you. :)
Secondly, I will try to make that video.
Hello Adam,
This lesson has infected me with English bug!
I like it :)
Thanks, i like this lesson
9/10 Even in a beginner lesson your score isn’t 10? What’s up, Doc?… Sorry, what’s up Physician?
only 50%,I m shameful.
Never be ashamed Abdul. Be patient :)
Hello Adam,
What do you think, the illness is a consequence of disease or the manifestation of disease. I say that because there are psychological illness and not psychological disease, am I right?
Many thanks.
I am looking forward to your next lesson.
Alina
Hi Alina,
Actually, an illness can be a passing thing while a disease is more chronic. An illness can be also be treated quickly, while a disease might not be curable. That being said, an illness can be misdiagnosed and the actual disease casuing the problems missed.
As for psychology, I think there are diseases, not illnesses. I would have to look that up though.
Good questions :)
Hi Adam,
with regard to Alina’s question, actually she is correct :)
In fact, a mental illness is an alternative definition to mental (or psychiatric) disorders.
Thanks :)
Well, thank for yuor lesson. I have a confusion about the different or how to use ” medication ” and ” medicine “? thanks :)
Hi Tong,
Technically, medication is the stuff you take (swallow, inject, etc.) to fight an illness or disease. Medicine is the general fight against illness, including the use of medications.
There are different approaches to medicine, such as holistic, Western, Eastern, homeopathic, etc.
Does this help?
Thank you very much, now I understood :)

HI Adam. I really enjoy your videos. I have got a question about toothache. Should I use HURT for mentioning that tooth to the dentist?

I can’t get the meaning of ” pediatrician ”

i got 9 correct out of 10
Hi ! PROFESSOR ADAM I got 7 out of 10 ! i guess need to fucos and concentrate and watch your video for how many time makes me understand well ….I do love to practice your lesson but bcoz of my pretty erratic busy work scheduled always running out of time I’m watching your video while doing my other work thats why i don’t understand the other parts of the lesson so hard! but I injoyed your lesson very interesting I’d learned a lots and I’ve learn your lesson well 、Always thank you to your beaudiful excellent education im lovin it .
Thank you Adam
It is such a fun work
I really like that you communicate with us

Nice lesson but I want to say cancer can be treated and never comes back
Thanks Adam, I got 9/10. This is very useful lesson.
Thank you Adam! I got 10 out of 10 but I have to say that I thought question number 9 was a little confuse. Maybe because in Portuguese if you say that there is no ‘cure’ for something means that you’ll never get rid of the problem. ;)
Hello Adam! Please, could you check out the question 7:
7. If a tumor is found to be benign, what does that mean?
It is not life threatening.
It is life threatening.
I don’t agree with the answer. A benign tumor is that one you can treat.
Thanks in advance!
Treat and threat are different words.
It is not life-threatening means it is not dangerous for your life.
I have got 7 correct out of 10 and i will keep trying to get the full mark ^_^
You are the best !
I have got 9 correct out of 10.((( but will try!
Thank you for the amazing lesson!!! I really liked it!
I have got 9 correct out of 10 .. it was a excelent lesson . thank you very much

hmm i got 7 out of 10 its really interesting lesson and helpful for me and to others whom are trying to better their English .

Thanks a lot, Adam!
100%!!!
thanks!
I have got 8/10 , I doctor but I have some difficulty in English
sir i want to ask how can i increase vocabulary. to get my grades well.
That was interesting, thanks a lot ☺.
if I don’t hurry up I can do 8
I do 10 :-)
Thank you Adam.
I loved class about medical vocabulary!
I got 10 of 10. But it seems to me that the answer “feed” could be correct as well as “heal” for question #10. The word treat has two meanings.
1. To give a pill/ ointment etc.
2. To give a candy/sandwich etc.
Please what’s the different between heal ,cure
I would say we usually use heal for injuries and cure for diseases. For example:
I can’t run until my broken ankle is fully healed.
One day, we will be able to cure cancer.
It’s useful. Thanks Adam!
Great lesson! Thank you :)
Thank you very much Adam :)
Thanks
9 out of 10… One careless mistake.I’m sorry.
Next time will be better.
