Hello Alex,
I wish you happy new year and to all Engvid teachers and staff and all Engvid viewers .
Thank you for this lesson Alex .
“Little by Little ” is a song from Oasis ans “Step by step” a song from Whitney Houston but also other singer or band ,I can’t remember the name, sang with this title . If any Engvid viewers may help us find this name it would be a good start for this new year . Haha , joking doesn’t harm ! 😉😊

9/10 Thanks Alex!

Tuesday, January 2nd 2018

Nice work! Now put that knowledge into practice.

    Friday, January 5th 2018

Hi Alex, Thank you for the lesson. I got 10/10 from the quiz. I do have a question. Can we say “Slow but Sure”?

Wednesday, January 3rd 2018

I’ve never heard that used. The correct and common usage is “slowly but surely.” They must be adverbs.

    Friday, January 5th 2018

Happy 2018….!!! Sir would you please tell me that can we say “wait and watch”? Is it grammatically correct?

Wednesday, January 3rd 2018

“Sir, would you please tell me if we can say…”

The correct and common phrase you’re looking for is “wait and see.” :) “Wait and watch” is grammatically correct, but it’s not the most common phrase.

    Friday, January 5th 2018

Than you Alex. I watched the video and finished the quiz But I couldn’y understand now and then. Could you explain it again.

Wednesday, January 3rd 2018

“Now and then” is another way to say “sometimes” or “occasionally.” It’s also very similar to “from time to time.”

I watch horror movies now and then, but I prefer to watch dramas.
I only call my sister now and then. We’re not very close.

    Does this help a little?

    Friday, January 5th 2018

Thank you. I got it :)

      Saturday, January 6th 2018

Hi Alex,thank’s for lesson..

Litle by little -Byron

“Little by little the day is done. Little by little the dark kills the sun. Little by little all the green turns grey. Little by little there’s nothing left to say… Little by little our paths depart. Little by little our dreams are ripped apart. Little by little this race is run. Little by little I learn I’m not the one… Little by little the arrows hit their mark…”

Wednesday, January 3rd 2018

Thanks a lot! Happy new year to you too! :)

    Friday, January 5th 2018

Hi, Alex!
First of all I wanna thank you for all your lessons.
You are incredible!

I hear you saying the word “OFTEN” exactly as it sounds and I wonder, we should to pronounce this word like: “OFEN”, no? ‘couse I eared it that way. Or it’s because you’re from Canada or something…what is the correct way, please?

Thanks in advance!

Wednesday, January 3rd 2018

Haha. You’re the second person to mention this to me. I think I usually say “ofen,” but I guess I didn’t in this video. Both are accepted pronunciations, but the silent T is much more common. You had the right idea. Keep saying “often” like “ofen.” :)

    Friday, January 5th 2018

      Great! Thank u very much!

      Friday, January 5th 2018

Thanks Alex, and happy new year

Wednesday, January 3rd 2018

You’re welcome! Thanks for studying with me, and happy new year to you too!

    Friday, January 5th 2018

I got 10 out of 10. The quiz was quick and easy (easy-peasy). Excellent lesson. I like your examples with music and movies, and I noticed you like Game of Thrones, don’t you? I saw the question with Cersei and Sansa, that was funny. Thank you!

Wednesday, January 3rd 2018

Haha. My pleasure. I’ve actually only seen season one of Game of Thrones. I plan on watching the entire series one day, but I think I’d like to read the books first.

    Friday, January 5th 2018

Thursday, January 4th 2018

    De rien! Merci d’avoir regarde! (J’espere que c’est correct…)

    Friday, January 5th 2018

your explanation is slowly but surely, thanks

Thursday, January 4th 2018

You’re welcome! Thank you for studying with me. You can’t really say “Your explanation is slowly but surely” because “slowly but surely” is an adverb expression. It has to modify a verb that is NOT the verb to be. You CAN say “You explain slowly but surely.”

    Friday, January 5th 2018

Thank you!!! It was a great lesson. Slowly but surely!!

Thursday, January 4th 2018

My pleasure! Thanks for studying with me, Miria. Keep practicing!

    Monday, January 8th 2018

Hello Alex,

I can tell what is to learn slowly but surely. I have been learning with Engvid for eight months now. Even though It could be frustrating when you do not understand some things at the beginning, it is amazing when you notice that you are able to get almost everything. (Including different accents and dialects).

Thank you

Friday, January 5th 2018

That’s awesome, Albeiro! Thanks for studying with us, and good job on improving your English over the past eight months!

    Monday, January 8th 2018

Whats uo Alex? I remember an old movie of Bill Muray where he uses “baby steps” literally… Very funny. Thanks for the lesson.

“You are a fabulous teacher.” (use an article before a singular count noun and when you’re referring to someone’s job)

Happy new year to you too! All the best in 2018!

Step by step, oh, baby, really want you in my world.

Saturday, January 6th 2018

thank you I shall be oblige.

Monday, January 8th 2018

hello, i’m afraid it is not related to the video, when i whatch news i usually see, for example, TRUMP TO PAY A STATE VISIT TO CHINA, honestly, it sounds incomplete to me. thus, i was wondering if somebody could tell me what it actually means. ALL THE BEST.

Monday, January 8th 2018

That’s a good idea for a lesson! News headlines have to be short, so they often leave out words, especially forms of “to be”. Here, the sentence means Trump is to pay a state visit to China.

    Monday, January 8th 2018

Definitely a good idea for a lesson. This sentence in particular simply means Trump will make a state visit to China. You can use the phrase “pay a visit” as a more formal way to say “visit.”

    Tuesday, January 9th 2018

Thanks, Alex.
You all have made English easy if go step by step. I do use these words not all but didn’t notice that much. overall great tips. by the way, I got 9 correct out of 10.

Tuesday, January 9th 2018

“The song ‘Time After Time” played at my wedding.” :) “Wedding” is the event. “Marriage” is the union.

Happy new year to you too, Inaldo! All the best in 2018.

    Wednesday, January 10th 2018
