This wasn’t one of the best performance. Many chattering, ohh ohhh ohhh…it looks like he doesn’t know the meaning of the words at all. Also, the speed of it almost made me fell asleep. The reading is not that good either.

1. Striking out on his own he had various xxxx jobs… (xxxx = mini off, it does not make sense)
2)…odd jobs which included xxxx(taking?)swimming pools…
3) Do you really say firefighter? I understood forestfighter.

Here’s an advice. Could you be more ACTIVE Jon?
Here’s an idea for teachers: before reading or listening to a famous person’s biography, you could encourage your students to write down a list of words or expressions referring to things they know about that person.During the reading/listening task, they have to tick those words which are in their list and appear in the document as well.

Hy Jon.Thank you for good lessons. I want to ask you what means (write as i hear) various minial jobs, minial? excuse my mistakes :D
The word you hear is menial. A “menial job” is low-paid service work, like a cleaner or a restaurant server. It also has a bit of a derogatory meaning — if you call it a “menial job” rather than a “service job” or whatever, it means you don’t like it, or you don’t think it’s a good job.
