    Soei

Hello! Could you rephrase your comment so that I don’t understand the meaning of “I live under sanction”??
    Thanks in advance, SOOZI.

Thank You Alex..

Doni Bungaa

Thank you Alex for the wonderful video, as always. Is it possible to say ” an item of clothes” instead of an article?
Thank you.

Elen Sheff

Yes, you can also say an item of clothing, but I feel that I hear “article” more often.

    Alex

knopfler86

Thank you Alex!!

JJJR

Thank you Alex.

Tyrion

Thanks for video and humour! Could you help me with the following question, please. Why is ‘many’ used with ‘clothes’ if this noun is uncountable?

smile

It’s a bit of a paradox because it’s a permanent plural, which technically means it’s countable, but you can’t say “2 clothes.” You just have to accept that “clothes” goes with “many.” :)

    Alex

Thanks))))

PokerFire

Same rule for ‘binoculars’?

fcofabioviana

You got it! Darn. I missed that one.

    Alex

Mmmm…I thought “pants” were singular on top and plural on the botton…

There is always something new to learn!
A smile Alex!

byte

For sure! Thanks for checking out the lesson and for commenting. :)

    Alex

You are a smart person. You have understood it was a joke:))

so intersting and useful! Thank you!

Soei

The very interesting word “overalls”. It’s singular in Russian. But “overall” is not a noun in English.

CaterinaSh

Thank you Alex for a useful lesson. There are a lot of humor and jokes in your lessons and tests, that’s what I really like about you. And you are always prepared, and you teach a lesson without stuttering, it’s a great job. Thanks a lot!

Polly

Thanks, Polly. That’s really nice of you to say. I’ve been working hard to make sure that I have as little stuttering as possible in my videos. It’s challenging sometimes, but it’s nice to see that someone notices this!

    Alex

Thank you Alex. You are a nice teacher. And one suggestion for you, always wear your pants in the classroom.

hashtagwasif

If I want to keep my job, that’s probably good advice. Thank you!

hello dear teacher. I have a question. could you plz tell me why dont we say ” what did happen” and instead of it, we say “what happened” ? what is the rule?

farhad2018

Because “happens” and “did” both are verb but in sentence we can use only one past verb not more than one

    aqifshah

tnx teacher for your perfect lessons. I got 10/10. I’ve watched all ENGVID’s and I’ve taken some notes. those notes are a 1000 pages book.ENGVID= learning real language

farhad2018

Hello. When we ask what happened? infact we ask about the subject of the sentence , so we don’t need helping verb: 1)A car accident happened near here. What happened near here? 2) Maryam went to the park. Who went to the park?
I hope it helps. Best regards

    Soei

tnx, it is helpful. I wish the bests for you
