Emma, hi ;) “meanwhile” has always been used in the past, this is a rule?

Diego Lima

Hi Diego! Take a look on #5 “Karen studies hard in the library. Meanwhile, Peter relaxes in his favourite chair.”. So, it’s not a rule.

    Andrey

You hit the nail on the head Andrey!!!

      Good for you!

      Have a nice week.

      Regino

excellent

neverloseheart65

thank you))

Muslim(Salyaf)

My score was perfect! Ya~y :D I didn’t know about how to use “meanwhile.” I got it because of you. And about ‘mean’…I had learned ‘mean’ has ‘verb+ ing.’

ex. I was at home while my daughter was dancing at a studio.

But ‘I was at home while my daughter danced at a studio’ is OK?

Thank you, Emma :)

Happy04

Nope, it’s not ok. If it was a short dancing and it ended while you were at home, you can say “My daughter danced while I was at home.”

    Danials

I got it! Thank you, Danials :)

      Happy04

I’m sorry but I don’t know what is different between : My daughter danced while… and I was at home while…
Danials. Can you explain to me, please!

Emma I’ve seen some of your video-lessons and noticed that you always make the viewer reflect on the teaching point in question, provide sample sentences to clarify meanings, and give us a chance to put everything into practice right away (at the end of the video we [you and us ] go through a short quiz).

Emma I like your videos since the way you organize your class is very effective and motivated.

Thanks for everything

Can U put the main point of these lessons some where in the site. What I mean for a example the differences between meanwhile & while are 1.M->connects 2 sentences 2.M->Use @ the beginning of the 2nd sentence 3.M->Comma followed by the subject.1.W->1 sentence 2 actions 2.W->Use @ the beginning of the sentence or Mid 3.W->No comma 4.W->sometimes Subject& Sometimes subject+ing.HAVE a NICE DAY..Emma.

Hi Emma,
While I was watching your video I thought a question about the following sentence:
“I read a lot of books while I was on the airplane”
If I have to read the sentence aloud to people and I don’t know the sentence completely how can I know the correct pronunciation of “read” (present simple or past simple tense)?
Thanks a lot!

Lkinter1

    Hi there!
In my humble opinion, I’d like to suggest that you can take a look at whole sentence first while reading that sentence. It might help you figure out the sentence whether it is present or past simple tense at beginning.
Or just correct it later if you make a wrong pronounciation on that word.
Trust me , your friend or other strangers won’t be criticized at this point ,period.

    MustChuck

      MustChuck, thanks for your opinion.

      Lkinter1
