Thanks Adam for another helpful lesson.
This lesson was very helpful, wasn’t it?
This lesson wasn’t very helpful, was it?
I’m not sure, but the difference between the two ways of asking essentially depends on the opinion of the person asking or what that person assumes. In this case, in the first question, the person found the lesson useful. In the second question the person did not find the lesson useful. The answer will depend on whether or not you agree with the statement. If you agree, use the verb in the statement, if you disagree, use the verb in the question. Best wishes.

    Well explained Europeangel :)

    rokaly

Hi, Alex. Sorry, I guess there is a mistake in your Answer № 7, isn’t there?

Valery teacher

I don’t think it is. What do you think it is correct answer?

    rokaly

    Hi Valery,

You’re from the States, aren’t you?
No, I’m not from the States. I’m from Canada.
    No, I’m from Canada.

First answer the question directly, then offer the difference.

    Does this help?

hello how do you diffirenciate between clauses and phrases and complex. complex compound. simple and compound

ptjkyoiyoiy

    Hi Ptjkyoiyoiy,

Clauses have subjects and predicates (especially main verb), while phrases do not.

Complex sentences have at least one dependent clause; complex-compound have at least one dependent clause and two independent clauses joined by a coordinate conjunction; simple has one independent clause; compound has two independent clauses joined by a coordinate conjunction

    Hope this helps.

I’m interested in your and the other teacher’s lessons. In fact, I used to follow most of your lessons but in this troubled situation in Iran my connection is very low then I cannot follow your engvid grammar page. Could you give me a solution. Thanks

Sepideh.Iran

    Hi Sepideh,

I’m afraid I don’t know how the system works in Iran, but you can try using a VPN to access the internet.

    I hope this helps.

Why cant I answer “I mind babies” in last quiz? I mind babies, so I don’t want to hold the baby.

Climbgreat

    Good question Climbgreat.

We normally only use don’t mind (negative form) in a sentence. To say you don’t like something, simply say don’t like.

Also, the question is do you mind holding, not do you mind babies.

    Hope this helps.

    Adam

Hi Adam! On the 9-th question I addressed that I mind babies (I am against babies), which was marked as wrong. Why it was wrong as long as I am avoid-baby person?
Thank you so much for your sophisticaition!
