Dear Rebecca:
Thank you so much for your outstanding videos. I would like to ask you about QUESTION 9 of the quiz. I already know that it should be said “What happened?” but… could you explain me why we don’t say “What did happen?”
Thank you in advance.

Hello Rebecca hi everyone,
it’s been awhile since your last tense lesson.

Although, i’m going to watch the video. It’ll improve my current skills and consolidate knowledge.
I’m looking forward to next lesson about tenses.

Saturday, February 8th 2020

Rebecca thank you for the lesson but I didn’t understand case 9. I thought it will be “`What did happen”? With hard work, I brought the idea to
fruition.

Saturday, February 8th 2020

The correct is to say: “What did it happen?” You need the subject, so What did happen? is incorrect.

    Monday, February 10th 2020

Sorry, I made a mistake because as happen isn’t a transitive verb, it cannot take an object.

      Monday, February 10th 2020

    Hi there.
When we ask about the subject of a setence we don’t need did, do or does:
    Sara came. ( Who came?)
A car accident happened . ( What happened?)
She helped the old man. ( Who helped the old man?) The best

Thanks for your hard work, I have a question.
What does the past simple tense of “is/are” mean?
For example, I went to a beach. The coastline was very scenic.
Does “The coastline was very scenic” mean that it is not scenic anymore?

If the coastline still is scenic, is it right to use the past tense?
