get dumpedit means that someone ended a romantic relationship with you. But it’s okay! I’m going to teach you how to talk about getting dumped and moving on! You will learn several English expressions to describe the stages of a relationship. Your love life may be difficult, but this lesson isn’t! Test your love and relationship knowledge in my quiz.
Great lesson :) I have just dumped my ( currently) ex girlfriend. :)
You are cold-hearted freak. There is no reason for boasting here.
I Think the cold-hearted freak in this website is you. Be polite, please.
My comment addressed “rafa1230” who was writing that he had dumped his girlfriend and had been glad and showed it by putting smiles in his post . As for politeness I agree. The more so that INGVID is the most politically correct place I have ever been. As for Ben , He is OK , he was explaining things
What’s wrong with you? it was the best example so people can understand the real point so… dont act like an idiot
Come on guys! Don’t take it seriously. There are plenty more fish in the sea.
Well, well, well, . . . on second thought it is impolite to insult people, but if you insulted someone’s intelligense Oooops! you’re getting into trouble.
Ben just wanted to make lesson more impressive , I suppost … if that guy from Russia called him a freak that means only his own level of culture. If you not agree with lesson make comments, add your thoughts … but say nothing about personality
calm down guys you are getting on my nerves, take it easy it was just an example iam sure he didn’t mean it.

.9/10 – “get over it”. Not, “jump over it”. Because during the explanation, the example was somebody jumping over the situation, and I got confused. Anyway, cheers

Hello Benjmin, I like your teaching method and you are Great teacher. I would like you to explain me the difference between these two sentences.here are sentences,We were supposed to have left for the airport 20 minutes ago.
We were supposed to leave for the airport 20 minutes ago.can we use to leave instead of to have.is tnat correct if i use to leave
Many people say that. So i guess, it won’t be wrong if you use ‘leave’ instead of ‘to have’.
But let me tell you that the first sentence sounds more standard and British.
Also, i think, the first sentence should be “We (are) supposed to have left”, not ‘were’.
But I could be wrong.
But yes, you can definitely use ‘leave’ :)
hope it wasn’t confusing
Hello fari, I’d like to give you my opinion in your question, I hope you find it helpful.
“We were supposed to have left for the airport 20 minutes ago.” Means that we left for the airport, but not when we were supposed to, which means we were 20 minutes late when we left.
“We were supposed to leave for the airport 20 minutes ago.” Means we haven’t left yet and we needed to have left 20 minutes ago.
So, it all depends on what idea you want to express.
Thanks Benjamin. Learning so many about emotion phrases. I got 100 out of 100. I am fell on the cloud nine. I looking forward to more excited lessons.

wow.2 years later:D
Actually I am new on engVid :)
Than you Ben) Tell me please about ” If someone annoys me, there are getting on my nerves” But why we use “Are” instead of ” Is”?
Because “They” is a plural from of pronoun and we use “are” with it.
Yaryna is right! Grammatically, we always treat “they” like a plural, even when using it to talk about one person.
thanks for the lesson! i like the lessons on the engvid.com so much. today,i learned the phrase “i got dumped””i am on cloud nine””you are getting on my nevers””cheer up””clam down” “get over it””you rub me up on the wrong way”.these phrases are useful .

Thank you Benjamin for your lesson. But I am a bit confused about two expressions you’ve mentioned in the video:
-Getting on my nerves
– To rub someone up the wrong way.
In which specific occasion am I suppose to use each expression? Because they mean annoy/irritate
