In this grammar lesson you will learn all the instances in which capitalization is used in the English language. This lesson will help you avoid mistakes in your writing.
Hi there,
Here’s some corrections :
The lesson content is easy to learn, but the test is a little harder.
In the contrary, the quiz seems to be easy, all you have to do is read carefully the given choices.
Congratulation on the lessons, you are doing very well.
Can u give me a lectures on grammer word such as,
was, have, has, would, will etc like these thing please
if u have like these lectures send me the link to theejee@gmail.com
Hey thanks for the videos, they are so easy to understand and they are helping me tons, I work as an English teacher here in Peru, and I love your videos. Thanks! .. Keep up the good work!
Hi, I have question? if the end of sentence with (!) like :
- I don’t know! He isn’t tell me.
OR
- I don’t know! he isn’t tell me.
and thanks
I think either “I don’t know, he isn’t tell me!” or “I don’t know! He isn’t tell me.” are correct.
“I don’t know! he isn’t tell me.” is wrong.
Thanks for your lesson, Ms.Valen Smith!
Hi weer,
I think the sentence “I don’t know! He isn’t tell me.” is correct . I remember in this video miss Valen spoke that after exclamation mark we use uppercase letter . Do you agree with me ? ^_^…
After using an exclamation mark, the next sentence should begin with a capital. The exception to this rule is when an exlamation mark is used in quotation marks. For example,
i would like you, teacher explain me about phrases and clause because i am so confused how to observe them, i hope that my lovely and cute teacher will give me the answer.
yours sincerely
Dear madam!
in fact I listened lots of your teaching in video, your teaching as clearly and as well that I can’t say by word that how well.

After exclamation mark,we dont use uppercase letter, its wrong.
Hi lian,
I think u r wrong . Plz listen to the video above carefully , u will agree with me that after exclamation mark we use uppercase letter . Except this case : “Let’s go to the park!” she said . Focus on quote mark “” . I hope this answer can satisfy u ^_^ . Maybe we need the last opinion of miss Valen

Hi teacher Valen,I think that the name Queen street is from you and You walked on it.I talked to my mother about these lessons, and ¨Let´s go forward!¨she said to me.
Hi, Valen, thank you for this lesson, but I have a doubt, can you help me?
There is nothing to see with the exclamation mark, but with the use of comma when you have a quotation, Why don’t we use a comma after the quotation and before “he said” when you have, for example: “I’m hungry!” he said? I’m asking because I learned that if it was in a direct order, like: She said, “I’m hungry” we DO HAVE to use a comma (Alex taught this in comma lesson).
It doesn’t make sense to me… In my native language, when you say something in a direct order (subj + verb + object – like in She said, “I’m afraid”), you CAN’T use comma. However, when you change the natural order of words in a phrase, like when you use the quotation first (which is the object) and then the subject and the verb, you MUST use a comma.
Hey Valen, that`s a very useful lesson. I like your letter writing, that`s awesome ! My writing is horrible,if you could teach in your next lessons, how to write English letters nice, please… And the last thing I was going to tell you, I love you ! You are so beautiful ! Anyway, I am from Central Asia

Bangladesh.
Great lesson as always, but I think you forgot something to mention:
Religions like Christianity and Catholic etc. are always spelled with a cap-letter. The same case is working when we’re talking about months: September, December etc.
Just to totally end the discussion. Weekdays such as Monday, Tuesday etc. are also spelled with a cap-letter. And big holidays like Easter, Christmas and New Year’s Eve/Day must also be written with a cap-letter.
hi
i think this answer is strangei,, Time to go to school” she said are both the same why one of them is wrong and others is true, how can I answer this please.
Hi Valen! You are a smart and beautiful lady! Thank you for this very helpful lesson.
Did i use proper capitalization in the first paragraph i wrote here? Should I write in upper case the first letter of a word after an exclamation point? or a question mark?
75% but I don’t understand the last question.”Time to go to school!” she said and
“Time to go to school!” she said. Are the same answer. So, why dou choose the last answer?
Hi Valen u r a very good teacher, I learned alot from ur lessons. Please touch the topic on Articles i.e A, An and The. Thank you very much for ur hard.
Hey,Ma’m Valen is it right sentence
My friend name is Johan Smith Micheal?
I have doubt because you mentioned above,We should write first and last name in capital letter,But how about middle name? kidnly reply, I am waiting anxiously?
hi valen
i know unfortunately cannot respond to private messages.i do not reply but i invite to think to rescue yourself from fire .i wish to enter paradise after believing Islam
Good, but not exhaustive. What about book names? song names? etc. Let’s take a look at the famous song written by Queen. What is correct: “Show Must Go On” or “Show must go on”?
addition to my previous comment.
Valen wrote “Queen Street”. I live in Russia. We know that word “street” is not a proper name. So, russian style is “Queen street”. This is why I don’t understand, why “Street” is capitalized.
Hi teacher Valen..I have two question and I hope you or anybody can give an answer..First, what is another name for capital letter that you’ve said in this video..It sound like “uppercast” to me..how to spell it exactly?Second question is why are you put “s” and aposthrope in “Let’s go to the park”? Is it a shortened word or something?I’m sorry if my sentenced have so many grammatical error…And thanks for all of your video from me in Malaysia..RSVP ASAP…
I am just wondering, Shouldn’t you a comma after the dialog in the fifth question.. Also, not sure if you should have used an article “the” before the word “school”? Like below …
” Time to go to the school”, she said.
The first parts of this lesson was easy, but I didn´t knew about the exception rule with the exclamation mark. It new for me.Thank you for your help again.
Dear Valen ,
Thank you , that’s what I need . These lessons help me so much but I would like to ask you quetion : How to improve my writing , it’s difficult to me .Thank you once again . The best of luck with teaching .
to Valen you are very good teacher but I have aquestion i can speak and write english well but I cant understand the native speakers what can I do. thanks abo_raghad98@yahoo.com
I was always taught an exclamation mark was always treated as a full stop, so use of a capital letter in the following word would be correct. Evidently the rule does not apply when using quotation marks. Hmm. I learned something new.
Dear Valen,
In the last part of this lecture, if the sentence ["Let's go to the park!" she said] change to this sentence [She said, "Let's go to the park!"]. Is that correct?
Thanks ahead.
thanyou teacher VALEN for being a great teacher, i have been looking a lot of englis videos but i culd fine any that i like, until i found you, you are the best thans again.
[...] Therefore, when you write your paragraphs, I want you to use correct capitalization. reflection This video will help with your understanding of capitalization [...]
Thank you Mrs Valen. I do not know how to thank you about your exciting English lessons. No matter grammar or expressions.A lesson on phrasal verbs with off would help me.
example: get off, taka off, reflect off…

hi valen
I can’t find you in facebook
That’s because she doesn’t use Facebook.
I was always taught an exclamation mark was always treated as a full stop, so use of a capital letter in the following word would be correct. Evidently the rule does not apply when using quotation marks. Hmm. I learned something new.
I get up at 7A.M.
question : should we use A.M.and P.M in writen in capitals as above???
Thanks for this lesson.
thanks you .i am from bangladesh .
The exam is tricky.
Dear Valen,
In the last part of this lecture, if the sentence ["Let's go to the park!" she said] change to this sentence [She said, "Let's go to the park!"]. Is that correct?
Thanks ahead.
“Let’s go to the park!” she said.
