@Quiz: Why we have to say “My city is like modern.” and not “My city’s modern.”? Didn’t you say that if “is like” is already in the question it isn’t needed in the answer?
You’re correct. The correct sentence is “My city is modern.” You just use “like” in the question form, but not in the answer form.
