During
, for
, and since
are three of the most common and important time words in English. Do you know when to use each one? In this intermediate English grammar lesson, I’ll teach you when and how to use them correctly. When you are finished learning and practicing these words, you can do the quiz to test your knowledge. Also, leave a comment to let me know how long you have been learning English.

Hey Alex, just want you to know I have recently finished watching your cooperative lesson with Gill (R.I.P.) about books. Really enjoyed it. The way you speak in casual situations deserves respect. I mean when someone reads a lot it is hard not to mention. Just curious what is your reading habits? How often or how many do your read on average per year (for example)?
What are*
Hi Hantera, thank you for watching that video. It was very fun to do.
I go through periods where I read a lot, and periods where I don’t read anything. Last year, I read 29 books. Some of them were shorter graphic novels that I read with my daughter, but the majority were novels or other types of long form books.
On average, I’ve been reading two or three books per month in recent months.
How about you?
I also find 3 books per month the most comfortable amount. Sometimes, it can be 2 per month. So I can digest everything I’ve read. For me, it is mostly fiction and classics. Also, last year, I started reading books in English following your recommendation from another video. Can’t say I have made a lot of progress, but feel more confident now. Thank you for finding time to answer viewers <3
I’m glad my recommendations were useful! Best of luck with your English reading.
I know your video since 2023.
And, I have been studying your lesson, for 2 years.
But, Sometimes My family into my room during I studying English.
Are these exact expression?
Thank you enough.
You are my good teacher
Hi Lee Jin. Thanks for the comment! Allow me to leave some corrections:
I’ve been watching your videos since 2023.
I’ve been studying your lessons for 2 years.
Sometimes, my family walks into my room while I am studying English.
I should have mentioned this, but “during” needs a noun or noun phrase. For example, “during the time that I’m studying English,” or “during my study time.”
I hope this helps!
