Are you familiar with the English sound /err/? It’s a vowel sound in British English! It doesn’t exist in some other languages, which makes it more difficult to get used to and to pronounce accurately. You’ll hear this sound in words such as hurt, girl, further, search, burn, and worth. It can be confusing because the words containing the sound vary in their spelling. In this lesson, I’ll demonstrate how to shape your mouth to get the correct sound, and I’ll give some examples of words which contain the sound, for you to practise on. So you will learn some vocabulary, too!
