“I remembered to buy milk” or “I remembered buying milk”? What is the difference in meaning? “I forgot to water the plant” or “I forgot watering the plant”? English teachers often use similar questions in their tests. In this lesson, we will look at the verbs remember and forget and when they should be followed by a gerund or an infinitive. The meaning of “I remembered to watch this class” and “I remembered watching this class” is very different. Watch and find out how.

Hi. Two questions. Is this form with -ing widely used? In my language it is possible to make noun from a varb an use very similar form. It would be grammatically correct, but very unnatural.
Second question: Which form we can use instead of -ing one? Is it possible to change “I forgot driving a ride” to “I forgot that I drove a ride” or “I forgot that I have driven a ride”?

Hi Emma!
My question is: Why the verb “allow” is in Envid’s list of verbs that SHOULD be followed by gerunds, if the verb Allow can be followed by an object + the infinitive, by a gerund, or by a noun. The gerund is used when the subject of the action the gerund describes is unnecessary, as in for general statements.
Examples
Her parents allowed her to go to the party.
Her parents don’t allow smoking in the house.
My parents don’t allow dogs.
Do we have to take out “Allow” of that list in your web? or Is there any explanation?
Mayita01
I got 10 correct out of 10.

Hi Emma,
That was a really fantastic lesson for me and thanks a lot. You told us just 2 verb examples of using gerund and infinitive.

OUTstanding lesson

I don’t understand the question 6 Don’t forget ____________ me up from the airport at 4 pm… why Picking? There isn’t “sense about see or hear something”
The right answer is “to pick”. I chose it and got a point.
The right answer is to pick. He’s reminding him to come on time and don’t be late. As I understand from the video, if he late the result might be not good… he might has an appointment.
I hope I transferred the information to you well and excuse me if I have some mistakes in the grammar.
Pick up it’s a phrasal verb and this makes sense. Look for it.

Wowwwwww, the greatest English teacher ever known in my life
I got 10 correct out of 10.
Hi Emma,
That was a really fantastic lesson for me and thanks a lot. You told us just 2 verb examples of using gerund and infinitive.
while making a sentences we are not sure which to use gerund or infinitive. Can we think similiar relationship for all verbs to make the right decision?
I remember to remember this lesson. I t was so important.
Thank you for your explaination. Very useful!
Thank you
Thanks Emma.
Thanks!Emma,it did help me a lot.
