Hi Emma, thanks for the great tips for small talks. By the way, I wonder if there are some differences between Americans and Canadians on the point of talking. When I first went to the States, strangers kept on talking endlessly, which was so new and shocking to me. On the other hand, the British seems rather quiet although they’re of course English speakers?.

Dear Emma
I like this video.I think, enaugh people have this problem and me too.I live in Azerbaijan and I don`t practice a lot. I am also shy and when I begin speaking English,I try to use correct sentences,because I don`t want to use false senteces so I can`t talk. I know this is my fault and I don`t proud of it. Hi Emma! I am a huge fan of you since I started learning with engVid for ages. Thanks for your useful videos all along. However, I would like to know that in American English, do you use the verb “do” instead of “play” when you talk about the term “sport(s)”? Because, I got to learn from the BBC Learning English that we do have to use the verb “do” instead of “play” when we talk about sports in general, such as “Do you do any sports?”. But, we shall use do, play or go with individual sports according their functionality. For example, (1) I do yoga, (2) I play football and (3) I go swimming.

However, in this video, you did use the verb “play” instead of “do” when you said, ” Do you play any sports?” What do you think about this difference? Thanks Emma! Hope to hear from you soon.
