food
. In this class, I will teach you some vocabulary and grammar that you can use when talking about food. These expressions can help you score higher on both tests. I will also give you some common examples of speaking questions you may hear. If you are not taking these tests, this lesson will still help you improve your vocabulary and conversational English. Try our quiz at the end to practice these words. Good luck on your test!

Hi Emma,
This lesson was absolutely perfect for me. Not only I’m an IELTS advanced student, but also I’m a chef who love cooking sophisticated dishes.
At the moment, I’m studying IELTS writing and academic vocabulary.
I would like to suggest that could you prepare a some academic English vocabulary related to food, transport, politics, education.
I have been working on this book: 400 must have words for the TOEFL. It is a fantastic book!
Do you guys know other books related to advanced/academic English words?
Thank you,
Thiago from Brasil

Hello, I have questions.
1. How to describe a fruit after it is Ripe, I mean it is uneatable. (its taste is strong sour.)
2. If food was left over night and in the morning you saw bubble in it, and its smell was bad. How to describe this food.
Thank you so much.
Hello Haridan, I think you wanted to say before it is ripe and not after. when the fruit is not ripe yet, we describe it “green” or “unripe”.
concerning the food that goes bad for whatever reason, we use the adjective ‘decayed’ to describe it.
Hello, I was wanting to say after ripe, not before, However, thank you for your answer. you made me know how to describe the fruit before it is ripe.
and “Decayed” or “Rotten” are used for describing the food. (someone tole me rotten and you told me decayed. then I searched from dictionary both of them can be used ex, The room smelled of rotten vegetables) Thank you.
This is what I want to know. Now I got it, thank u
Great Emma will you please make a class about Abbreviations common Abbreviations …
Thank you Emma. your lesson is essential and useful for me and others people.

I also like bibibap and cook it well.
because of I am korean woman.
someday I wanna invite for you.
Bibimbap is a traditional Korean dish.
When you come to Korea, you can try Ttobboki,Kimchi,Bibimbap,Makgeolli.
Enjoy everything in Korea.
Thank you very much Emma. I got 100 points. I really like your lessons. I can understand your lessons thanks to your teaching style with no more crying :) Could you teach lessons about TOEFL&IELTS more frequently? Bye!
Indeed, Emma has a way with teaching.
Nice class, I really enjoyed myself. Thank you Emma. Hi everyone! let’s pratice our conversation my skype is marllondelima
:)
Great lesson, Emma. Thank you!
It was a nice class today and I really enjoyed it. My faourite dish is “rice and bean with Djon-djon for lunch; haitian food” Unfortunately here in Brazil there is not djon-djon
According to our culture it could be impolite to say that “I don´t like or dislike X food” Because you can unaware offend others cultures. That´s why I would like to say that ” I prefer X food to Y food or I would rather X food than Y food”
That sounds delicious, and a bit like dirty rice.
Hi Emma! Thanks for that great video. I can now use these new expressions and vocabulary to talk about food.
Absolutely Aleachi, start using them as much as you can, this way you will have them stored in your long-term memory, otherwise they will easily be forgotten.
Thank you Emma! As usual your lessons are very practical, especially the pronunciation parts.
Many birds with one stone. This is Emma, with her you get to learn many things in one lesson.
I totally agree with you!
Thanks a lot
Very like, thanks Emma

bibimbap? what does it like? :)))
Bibimbap is a kind of Korean dish which is a mixture of rice, meat and vegetables, infused with chilli and garlic. It tastes a little salty, but still yummy.I ate it many times in my school restraunt, but it doesn’t exist these days.
Thank you emma, you are my favorite teacher

First of all, Thank for teaching very important food expressions. It is useful for us. By the way, I got 9 out of 10. I’m keen on Turkish food.My favourite dish is çiğköfte :) I prefer çiğköfte to Lahmacun :)) Keep in touch. Take care for yourself Emma! Also You have a killer smile:)) Bye.
as you know most of “cigkofte”s does not contain meat, that is why Is it true to call cigkofte as a “dish of meat”. Althrough we think it is a type of dish but it is not for each one of them except of contain meat. :) take care.
and we use “dish” for -cooked meal- as Emma said. And you mentioned about “cigkofte” whic is able to convert to english like -raw meatball- and as the name implies itself -it is raw-
Thank you Emma

Thank you for lesson but I wanna ask something. You pronounced “often” like writing. I suppose we couldn’t say “t” in “often” word.We pronounce “ofen” right?
In the American pronunciation the (T) is pronounced in this word but it became a silent letter in British accent. So we say often without (T)
