Hi James;
Can you tell me what the difference between these word ? :
Live and Alive
Though and Although
thank you

Mehran Sky

    8/10

    Mehran Sky

I live in this city.[vt, vi]
    He bought some live fish.[adj]
    I’m alive.[adj]

When “alive” use as adjective, mostly use for human

    ゞ(≧▽≦*)o

      Thank you;
what about Though and Although ?

      Mehran Sky

Engvid has a lessen teaching the difference of between these word.If i am not mistaken Adam was the teacher of it

        majidgbox

They both mean the same. Though is informal and Although is formal. ;)

        Quibbler

        Hi Merhan Sky
In Jan 23, 2013 Adam from EngVid.com was talking about Your present question. Whole lesson was about this two word “Though Although.” Write it in search box and see this lesson. (search box is at the top of this page) By the way. In Jan 9, 2013 Adam describe “life live alive living”. It was very useful lesson too.

        eurokolchoznik

          Thanks guys

          Mehran Sky

          You’re welcome, Eminem! ^^

          ゞ(≧▽≦*)o

Although is more formal, you may use it in the beginning of the sentence; though you may use it in the beginning and at the end of the sentence. you never must use although in the end. Both have the same meaning.

        Edinho

Handy tips on how to cope with English grammar are always a big help.

Interesting topic for a lesson James, but could you explain the causative structure in that way? I mean … HAVE someone DO something/
HAVE something DONE…

Looking forward to your reply
THANKS

Regino

thank you very much!!

kobuta

the presentation seems to be a little cofusing with the acting role..anyway the tips are useful..thanks

theo frias

At first Majid, I dhappen to know the answer to your question. The sentence you put up above “Having eaten dinner, we went out for a walk”, because the subject of the two sentences are the same we leave out the subject in the first sentence and start with a gerund. Another instance would be “Coming out of the house, I forgot to take my bag.” You see?
I got a question. We should submit our requests here or any place else?

mohamadastro

Thank you for explaining the rules to me,but i knew how it is made.I just wanted James to teach us with his own way of teaching and as you can see it has not been taught yet on The engvid.Once again thank you.

Hello, James. I like you humor. But sometimes it makes the understanding more difficult. For example for verb ‘tell’. A big mass of t-t-t, to-to-to, so in the quiz I made a mistake with
‘tell’. May be I should enhance my English to understand you better. That’s all right.
Best wishes, Kirill.

Hi James
I never think about grammar and actually i have never study grammar. But thanks to the movies that i’m watching everyday my grammar works well automatically !
Once again guys, grammar just makes you get confused.

Mohsen Barati

    Hi msn4062
actually..there are some obvious grammar mistakes in your comment .

    1- I have never studied.
    2- that I watch everyday.

Learning English by watching movies is one of the best ways, but, you have to avoid such mistakes by studying grammar, and by doing that you also strengthen your English language.
