    ALEXPERU1

there is wrong in your sentence. u said “please, lets me know ur skype id”. the correct is “let me know ur skype id”. cause if the noun is plural, put s (let+s). and if the noun is singular, don’t put s. and, if u use pronoun, don’t use s too.. hehehe….

    regina

please can you give an example about (lets), thank you if my sentence is wrong please correct to me.

      sam

Let’s is really casual outdated English. Some people are taught to say “Let’s go to …….”
We don’t usually use this unless we are speaking to children!

        Ronnie

Really? waw.. “lets go…” used when talk to childrend? ha ha .. i made mistake. Thanks a lot teacher for the info ;)

Hi, Ronnie! Thank you very much for your wonderful videos. I really like all videos that found in your web sites. Now I am watching the video of how to express the regret regarding the past mistake (that we did/didn’t). You have mentioned an example that I should have studied or I shouldn’t have gone to the pub. I was wondering if you explain the difference between these sentences (below) and above sentences (your examples): I wish I had studied or I wish I hadn’t gone to the pub. I would be more than happy if you send with explanation regarding the sentences (with rule). Wish you all the best.

hi Ronnie!!!!! great lesson!!!! howev er I have a doubt about pronunciation. when you have a sentence s+should+have/get +object+pp. can I pronounce of instead of have? or only when I talk about regrets?

Constanza

I don’t really understand the sentence you gave as an example ( s+should+have/get +object+pp)
She should have an apple? He should get a pizza?……If this is what you mean then NO you cannot say She should of an apple. Only use it when we use should have +past participle……..or any modal……. Could/Must/May/Might have + P.P! All of those you can say “of” instead of “have”!
I hope that answered your question and thanks for watching!

I love your lessons. Please help me with the pronunciation.
Dad and dead
aunt and ant
Thank you

Eleusa

Aunt and ant are said exactly the same…..”ant”.
When you say “Dad”, you have to open your mouth and say “da…d. It is the same as saying bad, lad,sad and mad.
“Dead”, is said with a smile…your mouth is tight and almost closed! It is the same as saying lead, said, bed, and head.
Hope that helps….thanks for watching and good luck!

what’s the difference between the basic regret for like I regret not taking the umbrella and your basic form
clear me the way please

Med

I regret not taking the umbrella, is present tense. While “I should have taken the umbrella” is past tense.

    Ronnie

Ronnie please just clarify my thought about regret
I know the basic form like “I regret not taking the umbrella ”
but I found yours more easy and simple
which is the best one please???

fondofenglish

There is no “best” one! You can use both!

    Ronnie

Hi, how are you. I like the way you teach. I have found your teaching most enjoyable than others; I have found this website recently though. I m really interested in learning how native speaker say English. Can you help me in this section please. Thank you.

Hi Ronnie, how are you. I like the way you teach. I have found your teaching most enjoyable than others. I have found this site recently though. I m really interested in learning the way native speaker talk. Could you help me in this section please. Thank you.

rajib09

Hi Ronnie you’re humble and very kind teacher that i have ever seen in whole universe… ma’am ronnie Please allow to ask you with regards this confusing words”.. WHAT ARE THE DEFERENCE Between the word ‘GET, and EARN?
ex: I get a lot of money.
T earned a lot of money
Which is the example is correct?
example one or example two
please correct me if I’m wrong..

paquingan.reynaldo

Earn is used when you actually do something to get something (money).
Get is used when something is just given to you and we are not sure if you did something for it or not!
Your sentences are both correct but they are in different tenses!
    I get a lot of money. = present tense. ( I got a lot of money= past)
I earned a lot of money. = past tense (I earn a lot of money= present)
Hope that helps! Thanks for watching and good luck!

HI RONNIE HOW ARE YOUR! DO YOU BELIEVE THAT THE SELF STUDY ON HOW TO LEARN REAL ENGLISH IS MORE EFFECTIVE COMPARE TO THE SCHOOL?

Reynaldo Q Paquingan

I cannot give you an honest answer – you tell me if you think school is better for you then self study.

    Ronnie

What’s the diffrent between: ” I should have asked her” and : ” I should of asked her ” ?

enma

I should of asked her is ONLY in spoken English. I should have asked her – is the proper way to write it! But the meanings are the same!

Teacher, I am sorry that I didn’t wait until the program was over because at the end of the program you corrected it.

fern leen

I really enjoy watching your English programs which are very useful and interesting. I am well aware that English plays an important role nowadays. I improve my English by watching English movies on Youtube, singing English songs, reading English novels, magazines and last but not least speaking English with my native speaker friends as often as I can. And never forget to watch your wonderful English programs before going to bed. Thank you very much

Hii Ronnie
Thank you for this really helpful lessons even though it was covered by Alex previously-It was explained that when this form, which has also been disscussed here in this lesson(Sub+should+have+p.p) is used or someone makes sentence in this form then the sentence actually refers to the past obligation which was not done but if they had been done the consequences of them could have been different, something positive=like as you said that you should have studied because you had exam next day but you did not read your lesson and you could not pass in the exam-I am really sorry for you that you ever had to face this situation of not being able to succeed in a test.If you had been at home and prepared your lesson then you would have passed in the exam and become happy.had not it been great????Ronnie…check out my sentences please..Indeed it has been a recapping lesson..

Hi Ronnie,I’m from Malaysia
How to pronounce double contractions “shouldn’t’ve”?
Is it normal for native speaker to use double contractions in an informal speaking?
May you give another example of double contractions which broadly used by native speaker?

“Shouldn’t’ve” sounds like “shouldn’t of”, which is a common mistake native speakers make when writing it down!

ok, thanks

nizam8480

Thank you Ronnie. I have been aware of something amiss when I heard native speakers prounancing “shoud have”. Now I know, and it will improve my listening skills. Please, keep going.

Ronnie, I really love the way that you teach. I started to learn with you and the other teachers here at the engvid when I was in Brazil yet and now living in US, I’m still here learning and improving my english with you and the others teacher’s help. Thank you so much for the classes, if I know some english today and arrived in US with some english knowledge, is because of you and the engvid crew. Kisses!
