An abbreviation is a shortened form of a word or phrase. In written English, we use abbreviations to shorten common sentences to save time. This lesson will explain some common written abbreviations that are used in a business setting. The abbreviations explained are: ASAP, RSVP, ATTN, CEO, NO., N/A, PR.
You are the best teacher Valen I am following up your lessons continuously.
I wana ask ::
I read once an article and at the conclusion I saw (PS :) what that mean؟
It those unchanged words, I mean ( Internationally known )?
Thank a lot teacher Valen.
I will pray for you often .
شكراَ
I ‘m not a professional English learner but I use this abbreviation in
in my letter as postscript.
P.S … Stands for Postal script … You’ll find in the end of the letters or articles When a writer usually forgets to mention something which is important. He/She will mention by writing this P.S …. and rest of the information.
Thank You!
P.S. stands for post scriptum
the term comes from the Latin and it’s an expression meaning “written after”
teacher Valen RSVP ASAP.
Post script
Always bright, always friendly, may Allaah guide

Valen, it is the first time to watch your teaching video. I was fully attracted by your teaching style. I will keep watching and get the ball rolling.
What is ‘get the ball rolling’ ?
Get/Set the ball rolling is an idiom which means to get things started.
Ex:After thinkin’ a lot about the project,we decided to set the ball rolling and complete it by next week.
Hope it helps!
Peace!
Hi everyone!
I am new here, I discovered this website just a few days ago and since then I have already seen many classes on-line. I just want to say to all the teachers “Congratulations”
They are really good, I mean the teachers and the classes.
Thanks
AND the most important, Ventura…. ITS FREEE!!! AHHHH? INCREIBLE NO?
By the way gays.
I have seen the abbreviation i.e. many times, till I know it means “For example”. However, I don’t know what each letter of this abbreviation means. Does anybody Know? Or maybe I am wrong and it has got another meaning.
It’s Latin: “id est” and it means: “that is”.
“For example” is “e.g.” and comes from Latin: “exempli gratia”
GOOD EXPLANATION MAURO, AGAIN, THANKS!!
Hi Omar
with your permission I make one correction. It is not gays. correct word is guys.Gay commonly refers to a male or female whose sexual orientation is attraction to persons of the same sex.I hope you understand
Hi,
Thanks for let me know my mistake, it is a word that gets me confused as it sounds similar. I apologise and just want to mention that was not my intention. Thanks again!
hello navin, i just want to make a correction, gay is use for male having or attracted to person with the same sex but for female they are called lesbians, women attracted to same sex (women) and homosexual are person attracted to both either male or female, hope this help, thank you.
Gaycan also be used for women who are attracted to women. And how are lesbians use for? Thanks for the reply.
