to be transferred” or “He was to give a speech”. You have probably seen this form in the news, business writing, and formal communication, but maybe you’re not sure what it means or when to use it. In this class, I show you how we use the present and past versions of this form. By the end of the lesson, you’ll clearly understand the difference between: “Jim is in charge”, “Jim is to be in charge”, “Jim was in charge” and “Jim was to be in charge”.

Instructions and manuals just use such a structures redundantly, i found out myself somewhat baffled a little bit at first i run into them, but soon had git what them mean. Them mean it must be done to get the effect.
The grammar lesson is very important. It’s be to improve my English level.
Thanks!
Dear Adam, that was my first lesson with you and I did enjoy it tremendously. Great topic, great explanation, great learning for me. Thanks!
Perfect and simple explanation! Thanks!
After your lesson, I am to be confident in using “be + to verb”.
I was to know this structure before, but I forgot in which cases to use it.
