I’d like to make you a request, I don’t know if it would be useful for anyother people…
I know you know some about Spanish, I’m Spanish and probably you’ll understand me and my trouble.
“Can you play the guitar?” Means “Have you the ability, are you able to, do you know how, to play the guitar”, I think.
Instead of that,
“Can I play the guitar?” Means “Do you give me permission for play the guitar?, Do you mind if I play the guitar?”, I think.
In Spanhis, we have “saber” and “poder”, and in English languaje it seems to be the same thing. How do you know when it refers to one thing or to the other?

Dude, “saber”=to know. “Poder”=can. It’s a lil complicated but I’ll try to explain. “Poder”=can, but when you are talking about abilities, this verb “can” has another meaning. For example: I can speak English(=Sé hablar inglés. Hope this Spanish phrase is right)This “can” works like the verb “to know” which is “saber”.

What I need English for is mainly for understanding, i.e. reading and listening; reading English books which I like, internet magazines, listening radio programs, watching movies without subtitles. But, I would like to write more and maybe talk with English speakers in real circumstances. Who knows, maybe one day it will be possible.
This site is excellent not only for grammar, but also for listening skills and conversation. I noticed that I can better understand live, spoken English watching TV series, or movies thanks to some excellent lessons I found here.
This site really covers various important areas of English skills. Keep on that way. Thank you.
