You can never say have being! The verb “to be” is a stative verb. Stative verbs can never be used with “ing”!
Have been is present perfect. We use it to talk about a past event that was exciting or not routine.

hi mam,what is P.S?
N.B?

Tuesday, March 29th 2011Reply to this comment

P.S. means post script. It is added at the end of a letter. It is Latin and it means after (post) write (scriptum), or written after!

N.B I haven’t heard before but according to Wikipedia, it means…………. Nota bene (pronounced /ˈnoʊtɑ ˈbɛnɛ/; alternate pronunciations /ˈnoʊtə ˈbeɪni, ˈbɛni, ˈbini/; plural form notate bene) is an Italian and Latin phrase meaning “note well”.[1] The phrase first appeared in writing circa 1721.[2]
Often abbreviated as “N.B.”, nota bene comes from the Latin roots notāre (“to note”) and bene (“well”).[1] It is in the singular imperative mood, instructing one individual to note well the matter at hand. In present-day English, it is used, particularly in legal papers,[3] to draw the attention of the reader to a certain (side) aspect or detail of the subject on hand, translating it as “pay attention” or “take notice”.

N.B. is often used in academic writing, but the term “note” is a common substitute.

Friday, September 16th 2011Reply to this comment

In chatspeak, it’s short for “Age? / Sex? / Location?” (someone might answer “20, F [female], Sydney, Australia” or something like that). It also stands for American Sign Language. Possibly embarrassing if you mix them up!

Hi Ronnie. Thank you for the very good lesson. I’ve 3 questions:
1- Is LMAO a rude expression?
2- Why I see some native speakers write lol instead of LOL (with small letters)
3- Do you have a facebook account?

Tuesday, November 22nd 2011Reply to this comment

    1) No — it is not “rude”.
    2) We wrote lol because we are too lazy to press caps lock or shift.
    3) No.

1)But it contains the word “as*” (~_^) O.o
Ronnie, Could you please help me. I’d like to know some of telephone calls expressions in English. For example what should I say when I want to end it and how I start it. How the custom service representative would usually reply to telephone calls and how should I reply to him. When the caller wants another person, not me but he mistyped the number, what should I say to him etc etc. It’ll be greatly appreciated if you make a video for me. If it’s not possible then it’s ok don’t bother yourself. Sorry if my English is bad

Why the old english (phonetics) have changed into the new one although the old one was easier to write with cause we write as we pronounce????????????

thank you for the lesson so useful

Wednesday, February 1st 2012Reply to this comment

All languages evolve in time. I think that the “old” language is more difficult because it is not how we say words, but based on many different languages – Greek/Latin/Germanic.

Dear mam..
i hope you’d like to help me with this prob which is irrelevant to this lesson..this is a very important grammar point which nobody of my friends could explain of…

mam i know how to use ”where”with other ways..

how to use where with words like these??

1 That is the RELATIONSHIP where one thing makes a change in another.

2 if you have gone to a WEBSITE where you have to create an account for yourself..

3 This procedure should be followed in CASES where dishonesty has been alleged.

4 Due to the volume of emails we receive we are unable to respond to the EMAILS where the answer can be found on our web site itself.

5 I got to the STAGE where I wasn’t coping any more.
