100/100 points. Thank you for this excellent lesson. I was laughing on your eating steak. :) I tried to imagine that how it looks like but I couldn’t. :)

Dear sir ALEX i got a lot of improvement through you and all Engvid teachers.
speaking of your teaching, i’d say it is fantastic. Through your lessons i improved more than you imagine.I never miss even a single lesson of your.the way you teach is simply very nice.if i come to CANADA then surely i’m gonna see you there.
Dear sir i would like you to answer my one of questions- my question is below.

WHEN AND WHY TO USE ‘HOW DO YOU DO?
CAN’T I USE IT AGAIN WITH THE SAME PERSON?

LET’S SAY I HAVE MY ANY COACH AND IF I SEE HIM AFTER FEW DAYS,CAN’T I GREET HIM ‘HOW DO YOU DO’? HOPE YOU WILL SURELY ANSWER ME.

And also

Is it— ‘A lot of improvement’ or ‘A lot of
improvements’

WISH YOU A VERY GOOD DAY MY DEAR SIR!

sona123

i have the same doubt you get the answer pls reply me

    rajpal90

      HI RAJPAL!
DEAR SIR ADAM REPLIED ME AND SINCE YOU ASKED FOR THE ANSWER SO FOR THAT I’M SENDING YOU ADAM’S ANSWER FOR THE SAME QUESTION.

‘How do you do?’ is a little too formal and probably shouldn’t be used with family and friends. Also it is only used at a first meeting, for example in a business situation. That being said, it’s a little bit old fashioned. Better simple say ‘Nice to meet you.”
      Hope that helps.

      sona123

i think it’s normal to use “how do you do?” as a greeting again and again. it’s the same as “how is it going ?” or “how are you”….ect

    secondly
“a lot of improvement” is the correct one cause it’s uncount noun you shouldn’t use plural “s” with it

    feeling87

Hi Sonu! I am not Alex but wanna answer your query. You could use ‘How do you do?’ many times especially with the coaching scenario. ‘How do you do?’is the formal form of ‘What’s up?’

    prakhar

Thanks always, Alex!

Not bad

Romark

I got a 100 Teach, so I didn’t perform badly after all, but i do bad things, like teasing the other envid students on their comments.Sorry guys I don’t mean no harm.

roshank

Hi Alex, you should say: “I hope that you don’t do badly on the quiz”. Is it correct? Once again thank you!! :)

dorycam

Hi, yet again not Alex but RoshanK.
“could I say, ” I hope that you will not fair/do badly on your quiz””. please do not get offended, your English is OK.

    roshank

Hi RoshanK! How’s life? I’m not offended at all! You are so cool! I used that specific sentence “I hope that you don’t do badly on the quiz” to repeat the last sentence of Alex. It wasn’t a question, but a statement. Then I ask him if it is correct. However thank you, lovely big cat!! :)

      dorycam

ha ha Thanks, big cat it is, king of the jungle and he is ferocious at times but he know to respect his women and his family. he is good isn’t he. hey Thanks for calling me cool, nobody has ever called me that before, thumps up for Italy.
Take care have fun with Envid.

        roshank

The king of the jungle is the best …. as Engvid! I like Engvid, because it’s simple and it has everything we need: a whiteboard, a marker and many fantastic teachers! I seem to be in the classroom. Ciao RoshanK! Have a great week! :)

          dorycam

Very clear Alex! Thanks.. :)

Hi Alex, I am following engvid lessons from more than one year. Youtube has banned in our country from last few months, due to some anti-islamic activities. I can’t access youtube lesson. Is there any way to access these from some other channels than youtube?

mursaleen45

I’ve answered number 9 false.I’ve chosen’How bad’.In fact it’s my fault.I’ve hurried,I haven’t paid attention that verb ‘need ‘ and ‘ badly ‘ as an adverb modifies it.The class,as usual,was easy, clear and useful.Endless thanks to Alex.

Thank! Teacher, I dont know the final lesson about Resident Evil Game had really bad control. I got a mess.
1) “Bad” describe the game
2) “Badly” describe the verb – the action “control”
I think This sentence needs a verb to describe the action, but “Bad” is correct. Therefore, Can you explain it? Thank!

arielk

Hi arielk. “control” in that sentence is not a verb , it is a noun.

    Soei

Hi Alex, thanks a lot for your great lesson.
take care

cep62

I can’t understand phrase “How bad do you need this job?”. I know bad means terrible. What meaning also have bad?

Kelkh

8/10 iam better befor thank u so much.

samiya ali

A have a question. In the phrase:

He’s singing very bad/badly. I’ll use adv (badly), Is it correct?

mviniciusgs

Hi. yes . it is correct.

    Soei

Hello Alex. I am a friend of Kisookk. I want to ask about bad/badly in question 4. I want to win so bad/badly. The answer key says I want to win so badly. Do you mean that you will cheat to win? You will win at any cost and perform badly to win? Or is your feeling that you want to win so bad that you can feel disappointment if you don’t win? I really liked your explanation of the steak tasting bad vs badly. (An ESL teacher in China, returned to Canada).

kisookk

I have read that we couldn’t put both adverbs together in a same sentence. In number 4 Why do you put “badly” with “so”?

Hi alex, I have a question to clarify if I may, if this sentence is correct: I want this pen so badly. Then why not use “bad” instead of “badly” since I’m referring to my feeling that I want it and “bad” is use for feelings/emotions/states? Please let me understand. Thank you, you’re videos are really helpful to me.
