:) I tried and did mistake in trial and error. Alex, shouldn’t you have to give me full marks ? :) It should be neglected ,because the word error has no value ,it is itself a mistake :) after all, learning is based on trial and error. Wouldn’t you appreciate me atleast i have tried :p ;)

Yes they are! It’s why I put them in this video. As a language student myself, I know that all I want are the common words and phrases that people use on a daily basis, so I’m not lost if I hear them used in public.

Hello Alex . i’m wonedring if i could use these expressions in formal discussions

Profile photo of Oume Oume

Hallo Oume, Alex of course can correct me, but the expressions as “weight the prons and cons”, demand – supply, cause – effect, trial – error might be harmlessly used in buseness talks. At least i did not meet any rejection from business partners when used these expressions

    Profile photo of Lioness Lioness

      Thank you :)

Hello Alex, Thank you for this great lesson. I remember a lesson on engvid with a word combination : ” The dos and the don’ts “. I kept this expression in mind.
In the last sentence of the quiz I didn’t understand “in ages”. Can you explain me this expression in the sentence: I haven’t had fish and chips in ages! Have a good weekend. Best regards. Marie-Claude

Profile photo of mclaude mclaude

    in ages means several years

Profile photo of Ostad Mirwais Ostad Mirwais

Hello, Marie-Claude. I think the expression “I haven’t had fish and chips in ages” means that whether I have never had fish and chips in the entire of my life or I haven’t had fish and chips since long time ago. Anyway, that what I have understood.

Profile photo of Hassan ABS Hassan ABS

Thank you for your reply. I think it’s rather “I haven’t had fish and chips long time ago. May be Alex will answer questions.

Hi Mr. Alex, I hope you can help me out with this matter. I have this message and I`m not sure about using the correct form of the verbs. I hope you can explain your answers as well. Here`s the message:
Hi, Emilie:
I have always remembered your wonderful classes in Rome, and when I (1 see) you on FaceSpace yesterday, I (2 decide) to send you a message to say hello. We (3 not see) each other in years. So let me tell you what I’ve been up to. In 2006, I (4 move) to Canada, and I`m living in Montreal right now. I`m still studying English, and I recently (5 enroll) in a great language school here. I (6 travel) a lot in Canada and the US, too. I (7 be) to Toronto, Halifax, Boston and New York. I (8 go) back home to Rome to visit my parents last September. Sorry I (9 not call) you then! Do you think my English is better now? I`m going to keep studying till I can speak as well as you! After more than three years here, I (10 fall) in love with this city. Let`s keep in touch.

Thanks a lot,

P.S: Can you explain your answers?
