Hello james, I think the answer should be: “D. to arrive at a certain time”
“G. to see or hear with great difficulty ” is not appropriate.

“Mr. E could barely make it to his house because of the heavy rain.” is ‘D’.
The rain, I think, was so heavy – downpour, shower – that Mr. E could hardly see his house, – could barely make out his house.
Tom Turtle is always on the make for tips on English grammar. Which meaning of make is this? why is it not A?
I chose A, too. I don’t understand the answer.

Hi, thank you for wonderful lession, but i have a doubt, for the second question. In this question, “make out” is a phrasal verb and Mr. E would love to kiss Jon long time, but you gave the answer as “looking for somehting/looking for sex,” but actually you said this is the meaning of noun “make.” Sorry for the mistakes in my sentence construction. Please explain me.

Could you explain how I use (-ness) like: Awareness, likeness,worthiness, etc… what’s the meaning of “-ness)?
When you add
-nessto an adjective, it turns it into a noun that means “the state/quality of being [adjective]“. So, for example,awareness(aware+ness) means “the state of being aware”: “Because I was asleep, I had no awareness of what was going on.”Thank you very much teacher

I am 60 years old and back when I went to school in Arizona the teachers did not take the time to explain things. I have a lot of english grammer “holes” because I did not understand certain things.
