The lessons made by every teacher on engVid are great BUT from some days ago they have become boring because every time I click on the progression bar an ad pops out (Woozgo).
Unfortunately if such a problem continues I will leave enfVid.com and I will returne on BBC learning english. Best regards.

Hi Ronnie do you now what’s goers mean ??

chris76

Hi Ronnie, U are a really great teacher I´m lovin your class.
One question: What´s the meaning of “Phunk”?
For example Don´t Phunk with my heart

0pea

OK, so this one’s not that simple!

It’s a play on “fuck with”, which means to mess with (“Don’t fuck with me” = don’t get aggressive with me), and “funk”, which is an American music style born in the late 60’s. “Phunk” is a slangy misspelling of “funk”, similar to the slang “phat” (from “fat”).

So in this case it means “don’t mess with my heart” or “don’t break my heart”, but references the look and sound of funk, which you can see in the video.

Also, the hook (the tune for the words “don’t phunk with my heart”) is from a 70’s Bollywood movie! See Wikipedia for proof. ~The more you know~

Thanks a lot,Ronnie. You are the best

Slang is a street language? I doubt it … I’ve recently heard a CEO say to the board members at a business meeting ‘Oh, chill out, ladies and gentlemen, and have a quiet discussin of the issue at hand’ … Just an observation … Slang is a code people of all walks of life use to sound less formal and more casual’ … A homeless guy on the street recently asked me: ‘What time do you make. sir?’ How’s that for street language? … Just my two cents …

Thank you Ronnie. You’re chill. My test it isn’t very bad.

Sorry, but I don`t understand what does the word mean – hang out.

nikolaevich

To hang out is to spend time with someone — not for work or school, but just to be social. E. g. “I’m going to hang out with my brother on Saturday.”

    engVid Moderator

it means: to spend time with someone, to do something together (no matter what exactly)

Thanks, It`s very clear

Hi Ronnie!!! Thank you so much for this great lesson.

is this possible to make some lessons about below subjects. I have a lot of problems with them :)

1. spill and all its family words like throw, drip, etc. and best way to use them.

2. adjectives that describes peoples like francky, ratchet, etc. I know there are a lot of them out there and they might not fit into one video but they are the must things for newcomers to Canada and really hard to find in one place.

3. food adjectives such as rotten. I do not know how to say a fruit is not good anymore to be eaten. same thing with most of food. from what I found there are different words for different food and fruits

Thanks again. you and your team are the best ever!!!!
