    Hi Renata! Both words are used — melancholy and melancholic, but I think melancholy is used more often. To me, melancholic suggests a general type of personality, eg “He’s a melancholic person”, but melancholy sounds more temporary — “I’m feeling melancholy today”. I hope this helps :-)
