What does the past simple tense of “is/are” mean?
For example, I went to a beach. The coastline was very scenic.
Does “The coastline was very scenic” mean that it is not scenic anymore?

If the coastline still is scenic, is it right to use the past tense?

It is correct to say “The coastline was very scenic.” It doesn’t mean that it’s not scenic anymore. We use “was” not “is” because you’re telling or describing what you see on that trip. You have to use the past tense when telling something about your past experiences.

Did you read the book I gave you? My doubt is about “I gave you”, because when I do a question in past all the sentence have to do in past except the verb (in this case read)?. Why we don´t use for example “Did you read the book I give you?”

I learned that Past Simple has a thing called “inverted word order.” And you can ask questions in more than just the standard formula:
Normal order: She went somewhere yesterday.
Reverse order: Where did she go yesterday?
Inverted word order:Where went she yesterday?
