Hi Emma,
This lesson was absolutely perfect for me. Not only I’m an IELTS advanced student, but also I’m a chef who love cooking sophisticated dishes.
At the moment, I’m studying IELTS writing and academic vocabulary.
I would like to suggest that could you prepare a some academic English vocabulary related to food, transport, politics, education.
I have been working on this book: 400 must have words for the TOEFL. It is a fantastic book!
Do you guys know other books related to advanced/academic English words?
Thank you,
Thiago from Brasil

LEARNER

Hello, I have questions.
1. How to describe a fruit after it is Ripe, I mean it is uneatable. (its taste is strong sour.)
2. If food was left over night and in the morning you saw bubble in it, and its smell was bad. How to describe this food.

Thank you so much.

Haridan

Hello Haridan, I think you wanted to say before it is ripe and not after. when the fruit is not ripe yet, we describe it “green” or “unripe”.

concerning the food that goes bad for whatever reason, we use the adjective ‘decayed’ to describe it.

    Nabil

Hello, I was wanting to say after ripe, not before, However, thank you for your answer. you made me know how to describe the fruit before it is ripe.

and “Decayed” or “Rotten” are used for describing the food. (someone tole me rotten and you told me decayed. then I searched from dictionary both of them can be used ex, The room smelled of rotten vegetables) Thank you.

      Haridan

This is what I want to know. Now I got it, thank u

Jolly Jolly

Bibimbap is a traditional Korean dish.
When you come to Korea, you can try Ttobboki,Kimchi,Bibimbap,Makgeolli.
    Enjoy everything in Korea.

    Jolly Jolly

Thank you very much Emma. I got 100 points. I really like your lessons. I can understand your lessons thanks to your teaching style with no more crying :) Could you teach lessons about TOEFL&IELTS more frequently? Bye!

ramazan5000

Indeed, Emma has a way with teaching.

    Nabil

Nice class, I really enjoyed myself. Thank you Emma. Hi everyone! let’s pratice our conversation my skype is marllondelima
:)

Marllon L. Silva

Great lesson, Emma. Thank you!

Júlio César L Sousa

It was a nice class today and I really enjoyed it. My faourite dish is “rice and bean with Djon-djon for lunch; haitian food” Unfortunately here in Brazil there is not djon-djon
According to our culture it could be impolite to say that “I don´t like or dislike X food” Because you can unaware offend others cultures. That´s why I would like to say that ” I prefer X food to Y food or I would rather X food than Y food”

Arjun P

That sounds delicious, and a bit like dirty rice.

    engVid Moderator

Hi Emma! Thanks for that great video. I can now use these new expressions and vocabulary to talk about food.

Aleachi

Absolutely Aleachi, start using them as much as you can, this way you will have them stored in your long-term memory, otherwise they will easily be forgotten.

    Nabil

Thank you Emma! As usual your lessons are very practical, especially the pronunciation parts.

    Nabil

bibimbap? what does it like? :)))

    davi j

Bibimbap is a kind of Korean dish which is a mixture of rice, meat and vegetables, infused with chilli and garlic. It tastes a little salty, but still yummy.I ate it many times in my school restraunt, but it doesn’t exist these days.

as you know most of “cigkofte”s does not contain meat, that is why Is it true to call cigkofte as a “dish of meat”. Althrough we think it is a type of dish but it is not for each one of them except of contain meat. :) take care.

    at-LightSpeed "don't disturb me"

and we use “dish” for -cooked meal- as Emma said. And you mentioned about “cigkofte” whic is able to convert to english like -raw meatball- and as the name implies itself -it is raw-
