Is question #1 a present continuos tense or future tense?

      Tuesday, April 26th 2016

It could be either. If you work Monday-Friday and you’re saying it on the Sunday before, it’s future. If you’re saying it on Wednesday, it’s present continuous.

Hi Alex sir, i hope you are fine, i want to know when we say “Origin”, and than another word pronounce like ‘Origin’, which is “Engine” my question is, when we say ‘origin’ and ‘engine’ so these both words in last make sounds like gan, and gan, so i want to know if they sound, similar so why “E” is exceptional with “Engine” .
Please make a class and make me sure about these words you must be know more words and examples of it so please if you make a class on it. Thank you.

I like the video u teach. Thanks my teacher

Tuesday, April 26th 2016

Thank you Alex, the video is very informative, I would like you to answer my question that is not related to this video, it has to do with articles. I saw one sentence in english, here is: “We could find Mars pretty cold, an average temperate would be around minus 63”. So why is there used the article AN before the word avarege, not The

Tuesday, April 26th 2016

J’ai traduit “I’ve been working my ass off in my new job” par “j’en ai plein le cul de mon nouveau boulot”. Ce n’est Ă©videmment pas trĂšs poli mais cela traduit bien le ressenti.
Merci Alex.

Tuesday, April 26th 2016

Thanks, Alex.

Tuesday, April 26th 2016

Thank you .

Tuesday, April 26th 2016

Hi Alex! Great lesson! One doubt: in question 1, the correct structure is not “I’m working on days this week”?

Tuesday, April 26th 2016

thanks friend, i got 8/10 this really helps me with my english :D

Tuesday, April 26th 2016

I got 9 out 10 , but thanks Alex I like that lesson

Tuesday, April 26th 2016

Hi, Alex, It’s really cool to improve my english with you…Thank you.

Tuesday, April 26th 2016

I got 9 out 10. I think it is good but I am a little confused about what you mean with ‘I work days’… Is that means you work every day or means that you work just in sunlight time of the day? Thanks a lot in advance. You are really a great teacher!

Tuesday, April 26th 2016

    Hi jhon,
I’m working days that means you work just in daylight for exmple from 8:00 am to 4:00 PM. it doesn’t matter if you work every day or not.

    :)

    Wednesday, April 27th 2016

And more – “I work days” – we should use, when we are working in shifts (this week I work days, the next week i will work nights). If I work 9-to-5 (every single week in a year), i’d say excactly this phrase :)

    Wednesday, April 27th 2016

I got 100.
Thank you, Alex! I liked the suit. So dapper.

Um, do you get to speak Polish sometimes? Just a curiosity of mine. :D

And um, do you teachers choose the topics or are they given to you, to teach us? Another curiosity.

Sorry I ask a lot. it’s not related to the lesson. :D

Do you have another word for “fired”? I learned “get canned”. Does it mean fired? Haha! Are there more words? I’d love to learn them, but fired is enough. LOL!

I’m done here. Thank you again! :D

Bye! See you! :*

Tuesday, April 26th 2016

I get to practice Polish with my parents, which means I really only get to practice it once a week or so.

The teachers get to choose the topics, but students or EngVid can give suggestions too.

There are many other ways to say “fired,” but fired is the most common. Here are some others:

    Get canned
Be let go (“I was let go.”)
Get shit-canned (obviously more informal and stronger)

    Thanks for the questions, Renata!

    Friday, April 29th 2016

Thanks for answering them. I thought you weren’t going to. :D

      Saturday, April 30th 2016

          Wednesday, May 11th 2016

Thanks Alex for this lesson!

It’s always useful to learn talking about work.

What about flexible shifts (work periods), home office, work by task assignment, and other ways of work?

Monday, May 2nd 2016

Thanks,Alex!I work 1 day(24h) followed by 4 days of rest.Is there any special expression for such a schedule?

Tuesday, May 3rd 2016

I got 10 on 10.

The most tricky part I found in this lesson is how the sentence “I am on days” stay in the present tense i.e. “I am on days next week” and not in future tense even when we are talking about the future.
That is probably because the employee timings are already scheduled and are quite unlikely to change so we can say that with surety, right?
Anyway, point duly noted.

Thanks for a wonderful lesson.

Wednesday, May 4th 2016
